My Story
My name is Tyson Johnson and I am a lacrosse Faceoff Specialist and coach in the Pacific Northwest from Salem, Oregon. Growing up in a non-lacrosse hotbed, I did not have much access to lacrosse yet fell in love with it anyway. I never was able to play for a club or travel team as they were all based in Portland and proper Lacrosse coaching was hard to come by living in Salem. This did not deter me though as I found knack for winning the Faceoff, a part of the game I became obsessed with. Upon Graduating high school, I sought to play at my dream school the University of Oregon. Endless hours of self-teaching eventually paid off though and as I won First Team all-league Faceoff specialist my Junior year.
My sights were then set on achieving All-American status my senior year, but this was cut short due to COVID. This abrupt ending to my college career came with a positive though; it inspired me to pursue lacrosse at an even higher level. While pursuing this passion- I quickly realized the lack faceoff coaching in the PNW. I then found another passion in sharing my love and knowledge for the game with others.
During this time, I was fortunate enough to be have been picked up by nationally renown “Faceoff Factory“. Run by Faceoff legend Joe Nardella, Faceoff Factory has me running all of their clinics in the PNW region. This allows me the opportunity to coach kids who, like myself, do not have access to elite lacrosse coaching. I now set out to coach all clubs, schools or player who may be in need of my expertise.
After having played in the most competitive Men’s leagues throughout the Pacific Northwest, I discovered the historic Canadian Semi-professional leagues. I moved up North to Bellingham, Washington to pursue this even more competitive level of play. I now have multiple seasons of experience playing in the “Arena Lacrosse League”, an NLL Feeder league.
Services I Provide
I have coached for countless clubs, schools and organizations as well as coached private lessons or group sessions. I have had several pupils earn All-American honors and commit to colleges at every level- from MCLA to D3 to D1! Subscribe to my email list and follow my on social media to stay up to date on my Events! I host Faceoff Factory clinics, coach private group sessions or and out even private lessons.
My dream to pursue lacrosse at the most competitive level possible was always difficult having grown up without proper coaching. Now I find myself with the opportunity to provide this elite coaching for future players with similar backgrounds to myself. I travel around the Pacific Northwest coaching faceoffs and posting Fitness, faceoff and general lacrosse content on social media and sharing the abundance of Faceoff knowledge I have gained over the years.
